Birthdays

A birthday message
from everyone at once

Friends and family each record a short voice message from their phone. We blend them into one audio gift they can play on the day, and again whenever they like.

Free for up to 6 people. A bigger group? $9.99 once.

Who people make them for

30th, 40th, 50th

Old school friends, university housemates and the people they work with now, all on one recording.

60th, 70th and beyond

Children, grandchildren, siblings and friends of fifty years. Grandparents only need to tap a link and press record.

Friends far away

People in other cities and time zones record when it suits them, not at the same time on a video call.

A child’s birthday

Grandparents, aunts, uncles and godparents who can’t be at the party can still sing and say hello.

How it works

  1. Record your own message. A minute is plenty.

  2. Share one link in the group chat, by email or on WhatsApp. Nothing to install and no account needed.

  3. See who has recorded. Send a reminder to anyone who hasn’t, from your VoiceHug page.

  4. Play it on their birthday, or send them the link to listen and download.

Not sure what to say?

  • How you met, and what you first thought of them
  • A birthday of theirs you remember
  • Something they do that makes your life better
  • What you hope this year brings them
  • An inside joke only the two of you will get

Birthday questions

How do I collect birthday voice messages from a group?
Start a VoiceHug and record your own message. You get one link to share in a group chat, by email or on WhatsApp. Each person opens it on their phone or laptop and records in the browser. When everyone is done, VoiceHug blends the messages into one recording.
Do friends and family need an app or an account?
No. Contributors open the link and record in their browser. They don’t install anything or sign up.
How long should each birthday message be?
Around a minute works well. With ten people that makes a gift of about ten minutes, which is easy to listen to in one go.
Can I keep it a surprise?
Yes. The birthday person never sees the link unless you send it to them. You choose when they hear it.
How far ahead should I start?
A week gives everyone time to record without a rush. Two or three days is enough if you share the link the day you start and send a reminder.
How much does it cost?
Free for up to 6 people, including you. For a bigger group it is $9.99, paid once, with no subscription.
How do they receive it?
You get a link to a page where they can play the recording, and an MP3 they can download and keep. Play it at the party, or send them the link on the day.

Their birthday is this week?

That's enough time. Record your message and share the link today; a minute each is all it takes.
