Thankbox Alternatives (2026): Pricing, Fees and Free Options
By Moé, co-founder of VoiceHug. Prices checked October 2026.
Thankbox is a digital group card with a built-in money collection: everyone signs the card, chips in if they want, and the recipient gets the messages plus a gift card or payout. It's free to start, and you pay when you send it: $5.99 for Classic or $9.99 for Premium in the US. If you're looking for something cheaper, something without collection fees, or a different kind of gift altogether, here are the alternatives and what each costs.
How Thankbox works and what it costs
| Classic | Premium | |
|---|---|---|
| Price | $5.99 | $9.99 (£8.99 / €8.99) |
| Messages, photos, GIFs | Unlimited | Unlimited |
| Videos and voice notes | No | Yes |
| Slideshow, custom design, 25+ fonts | No | Yes |
| Money collection limit | $400 | $1,000 |
If you collect money, contributors pay a card fee on top of what they give: 2.9% + $0.19 in the US, 1.1% + £0.17 in the UK, and 2.5% + €0.17 in the eurozone. The recipient can take the money as a gift card from 1,000+ retailers, a prepaid Visa or Mastercard, PayPal, or a bank transfer.

That's fair value for a work card with a whip-round. People usually look elsewhere for one of three reasons: they don't want to pay for a card, they don't need the money collection, or they want something more personal than a board of short messages.

VoiceHug: when the messages matter more than the money
VoiceHug collects a short voice message from each person and combines them into one audio gift, with the volume evened out. The recipient opens a link and hears everyone, one after another. It's the closest thing to the whole group being in the room.
- Free for the organizer plus up to 5 contributors.
- $9.99 one time for larger groups, with unlimited contributors.
- 30-day money-back guarantee.
- Contributors record from a link in their browser, or send a WhatsApp voice note. No app or account.
Thankbox Premium also takes voice notes, but each one is a separate post on a card. VoiceHug puts every message into a single recording, which makes the voice the gift rather than an extra.
VoiceHug doesn't collect money. If you need a whip-round too, pair it with GiftRound (below), which is free.
GiftRound: collecting money without fees
GiftRound is free for organizers and contributors, and 100% of what people give goes to the recipient. It includes a digital group card. The catch is the payout: the recipient gets a FlexCard e-gift card that works at 95+ retailers, not cash or a bank transfer. It's available in the UK, Ireland and the US.
Kudoboard: a bigger board, and plans for HR teams
Kudoboard is a digital board of messages, photos and GIFs. Boards cost $6.99 (20 posts), $9.99 (100 posts, adds video) or $19.99 (unlimited). For companies that send cards every week, the Business plan ($39 a month or $299 a year for up to 50 employees) gives unlimited boards. Kudoboard can also attach a group gift card. Compared with Thankbox, it's the better fit for HR teams that want one plan for every birthday and work anniversary.

GroupGreeting: a simple e-card
GroupGreeting costs $5.99 per card plus tax, with unlimited signers and pages and a PDF copy on delivery, according to its help center. It's about the same price as Thankbox Classic, without the money collection.
VidDay: a video instead of a card
VidDay turns everyone's clips into one video. It's free to collect and edit, and you pay to download: $5 for up to 3 minutes, $15 for up to 10, up to $60 for long videos. It works when people are happy to be on camera. See VidDay pricing explained for what a typical group pays.
Which one should you pick?

- Birthday, anniversary or retirement where you want them to hear everyone: VoiceHug. Free for small groups, $9.99 for big ones.
- A video montage: VidDay.
